Planning a local move: the details that make a quote easier

TipsMoving services

A move is really a list of small decisions stacked on one date. When you gather those decisions in one place, asking for moving help becomes a short, clear conversation instead of a long back and forth.

Start with the two ends of the move

Write down the starting city and the destination city. Even for a short local move, the route matters, and the inquiry form asks for both places for exactly that reason. Whether you are moving across town in Navarro County or between Freestone and Limestone counties, say so plainly.

Note anything about each location that could affect the day, such as stairs, a long walk from the driveway or limited parking.

Take stock of what is moving

You do not need a spreadsheet. Walk through each room and jot down the big items first, then estimate the boxes. Mention anything bulky, fragile or heavy so it can be discussed ahead of time.

  • Large furniture such as sofas, beds, dressers and tables
  • Appliances or other heavy pieces
  • Roughly how many boxes are packed and how many are not
  • Anything fragile or sentimental you want handled carefully

Pack with the day in mind

Label boxes by room, keep a small bag of daily essentials separate and finish packing before the day arrives if you can. Clear a path through doorways and hallways. If you are also getting rid of furniture or clutter before you go, that is a separate job worth mentioning when you reach out.

Pick a date and stay flexible

Give a preferred date, plus a note about whether other days could work. Flexibility often makes scheduling simpler for everyone. After you send an inquiry, C&S will follow up to talk through the help you need and discuss a quote. Sending an inquiry starts the conversation and does not book a job by itself, so you can ask questions before deciding anything.
